Bur Oak is a large deciduous shade tree with a wide open crown. The large 1.5″ acorns are the largest of our native Oak species, the big lobed leaves with red tinged new growth and nice fall color it produces are added benefits. Widely adapted throughout Central Texas soils, it’s very drought resistant once established. This is another tree that grows large, around 60 feet tall and wide in our soils when mature. Insect and disease problems are rare. These trees have shown no susceptibility to oak wilt.
