Bur Oak is a large Majestic deciduous shade tree with a wide-open crown. The large 1.5″ acorns are one of the largest of our native Oak species and provide food for our wildlife. The big lobed leaves with red tinged new growth and nice fall color it produces are added benefits. Widely adapted throughout Central Texas soils, it is very drought resistant once established. This is another tree that grows large, around 60 plus feet tall and wide in our soils when mature. Insect and disease problems are rare. These trees have shown no susceptibility to oak wilt.
