Flame Thrower Redbud (Cercis canadensis ‘NC2016-2’) is a cultivar of the Eastern Redbud known for its striking, multi-seasonal foliage color changes. It emerges with burgundy-red new growth, transitions to yellow, and then to green. This vibrant display, coupled with its pink spring blooms, makes it a popular ornamental tree. It typically reaches a height of 15-20 feet and a spread of 10-15 feet.  It is a compact selection of the native redbud tree, resulting from a controlled cross between Cercis canadensis ‘Ruby Falls’ and C. candadensis ‘JN2’ THE RISING SUN.
