Southern Wax Myrtle (Morella cerifera) is a relatively quick growing, small, evergreen native shrub or tree, capable of reaching a height of about 25 feet and can grow an equal horizontal spread. These small trees often have multiple, twisted trunks with smooth, light grey bark and aromatic, olive green leaves. Can grow in partial to full sunlight, and is drought/flood resistant. The Southern Wax Myrtle is primarily grown for its highly ornamental fruit. It features an abundance of magnificent blue berries from mid summer to mid fall. It features subtle chartreuse catkins along the branches from late winter to early spring. It has grayish green foliage. The fragrant narrow leaves remain grayish green throughout the winter.

• Plant Type: Evergreen shrub or small tree. 
• Size: Typically 10-20 feet tall and 8-10 feet wide, but can reach up to 40 feet in height. 
• Leaves: Alternate, simple, narrowly oblanceolate, 2-6 inches long, with finely toothed margins towards the apex. They are aromatic and covered in resin glands that emit a bayberry fragrance when crushed
• Flowers: Small, inconspicuous, yellowish-green catkins that appear in early spring. The species is dioecious, meaning male and female flowers are on separate plants
• Fruit: Small, rounded, bluish-gray drupes covered in a waxy coating, produced on female plants in clusters.
