The Texas Red Oak (Quercus buckleyi) is very similar to a Shumard Red Oak in every way except size. It has smaller leaves and acorns, and grows to a slightly smaller height than the Shumard Red Oak. This tree also has a slower growth rate than the Shumard Red Oak variety. Both trees have a vibrant red color in the fall months.
