Mexican Plum trees are single trunked, fragrant ornamental trees. They have showy white blossoms in the spring before the leaves appear. The leaves are around 5 inches long and 2 inches wide. The 1″ plums turn from yellow to mauve to purple as they ripen starting in July. They are great for the birds as well as jams. It’s rare to see one taller than 20 feet around Austin, and they will get around 15 feet wide. It’s also an excellent tree for helping the bees in early spring!
