Forest Pansy Redbud (Cercis Canadensis) is a cultivar of the Eastern Redbud, known for its striking purple foliage. It is a small, deciduous tree that typically reaches 20-30 feet in height and width. The tree’s heart-shaped leaves emerge a deep burgundy-maroon color, then fade to a purple-green or even dark green in the summer. In the spring, it produces small, pinkish-purple flowers before the leaves appear. “Forest Pansy” Redbud is hardy in USDA zones 5-9 and thrives in full sun to part shade.
